Bruce Knight was the son of a well known pair of glitterstim smugglers (Jack Kerr and Harliene Aquinn). Having spent much of his young life in the company of gangsters and thieves it appeared that young Bruce would be the ideal candidate to take over the booming trade in illicit narcotics.
Young Bruce, however, had other ideas. He used his time amongst the criminals to learn their secrets so that one day he would be able to help put a stop to his parent’s criminal activity. On Bruce’s 21st birthday his father came to him and informed him that it was time for him to take his place in the “corporation.”
To test his son’s loyalty Jack ordered that Bruce help to kill a traitor whom had been feeding information about the corporation’s smuggling runs to the authorities which was, in turn, costing the firm a great deal of money in lost shipments.
Bruce agreed, hoping to gather information from the traitor and, as in the fashion of the Bounty Hunter in fable of the Snow White and the Seven Jawas to help the traitor escape in admiration of their good deeds.
Bruce traveled to the site on Nal Hutta where the traitor was said to be meeting to divulge information that would put a damper on the next several weeks worth of shipments in an abandoned chemical factory. When Bruce arrived he was surprised to see that his mother was the person whom he had been sent to kill. When he made his presence known his mother was startled, but pleased to discover that Bruce was not actually interested in taking up his father’s illicit substance trade.
This would have been all well and good, but a Jack, wanting to be certain that he could trust his son (knowing as he did of his wife’s betrayal), had followed the pair along with his assassin droid finish them both if the boy was unable to dispatch his mother.
Seeing that his son would side with his wife Jack confronted the pair just as the droid fired a volley of stun blasts at Harliene. Both of Bruce’s parents were struck by the blasts and toppled over the railing. Bruce’s father into a vat of chemicals and his mother into a horrible device which activated with the addition of material and mangled her beyond all hope of survival. Bruce, having seen both of his parents parish (unbeknownst to him Jack actually escaped the chemicals and was left with a horribly disfigured appearance to show for his efforts), fled the factory after sending the deactivation code via his comlink (which he had obtained during his years of surveillance) to the assassin droid.
He now seeks a way to atone for the crimes that he committed in his father’s service.
